Reno, Nev. – First Independent Bank is proud to welcome Kara Harris as assistant vice president, business banking.
Harris, a fourth generation Nevadan, is responsible for expanding business banking opportunities with new and existing clients and matching the needs of business customers to a range of banking services which offer new efficiencies and critical safeguards.
“Kara is a wonderful addition to our business banking team at First Independent Bank,” said Jim DeVolld, managing director, commercial banking. “Kara has deep roots in Northern Nevada and brings with her valuable business relationships and the crucial skills in customer service that set First Independent Bank apart.
Harris’ diverse professional background combined with a record of establishing successful business relationships provide solid foundation for her new position at First Independent Bank. Harris spent most of her career in the hospitality sector working with well-known casino properties in Northern Nevada, directly assisting corporate and business tourism customers in mining, manufacturing, logistics and related industries. Most recently, Harris was director of workforce at the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN)
“I know that many of the qualities that helped me succeed in the hospitality sector will serve me well in the banking industry,” said Harris. “Providing outstanding customer service, finding solutions that help clients address business challenges and truly understanding a client’s needs are extremely valuable in creating authentic banking relationships.”
Supporting community organizations has always been important to Harris. She is a board member of the Ronald McDonald House of Northern Nevada and Girls On The Run – Sierras and also sits on the Young Leaders Committee of the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Nevada. Harris is also a strong proponent of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education and worked closely with the Washoe County School District while at EDAWN to expand robotics and STEM opportunities for students.
